  • Sugar Ribbons and Roses

This four and a half foot high cake was created with hundreds of handmade sugar roses in shades of soft yellow and accented with Swarovski crystals. The sugar ribbons created a feeling of romance, while the intricate piping added a touch of delicate detail. The bride sent some lovely words of thanks...

"Allyson you have incredible talent, we thank you for sharing your gift with us." R. Pusateri

  • Bay and Bloor Fantasy

For Miss Pusateri's wedding shower favourite shopping, dining and sentimental hangouts were recreated entirely out of sugar. These included the buildings themselves, but also the small sugar items inside the windows (yoga mats in lululemon, shoes and handbags in David and Baguettes and vegetable displays in Pusateri's) The only non sugar element were the clear plastic windows themselves!

  • Shopaholics Delight

This "fashionable" cake was created for a 40th birthday party. Chloe, Louboutin and Balenciaga were some of the birthday girl's favourite designers. Created entirely of cake and sugar this trio was the hit of the party.

  • The Red Sole in All of Us

Think of it this way, if you can't own a real Louboutin, maybe you can own a sugar one!

  • The Enchanted Forest

I received a call from the client who said that they needed two showstopper St. Patrick's Day cakes, gave me a sizable budget and left the design entirely up to me. This is the first of the two cakes, which celebrates the Irish folkloric tradition of the enchanted forest including leprechauns, pot of gold, and forest creatures. It is entirely hand painted and was an amazing personal feat of cake and sugar.

I met with the bride prior to a trip to Paris, knowing that she was interested in a Parisian theme. I ended up basing the design on pictures I had taken of the interior of Versailles. The colour palette was that of the wedding but the ornate gold detail and delicate touches were traditionally french.

  • White Sugar Lace and Floral Fantasy

Standing at almost 5 feet tall, this sugar masterpiece has something new and ornate to look at on every tier. From the handmade sugar lace skirting on the bottom, through to the hundreds of handmade sugar flowers, to the tier of pearls and silver dragees painstakingly applied in a diamond pattern and finally to the sugar vase with a crowning globe of sugar flowers, it is guaranteed that guests will be thrilled to see this level of edible artwork.

  • Celtic Knots

This is the second of the two St. Patrick's Day cakes. Designed to reflect the Celtic knots and patterns that are so prevalent in Irish society, this cake is a sugar representation of the patterns often found on Irish step dancing dresses. It started off with a base of white fondant and was then hand painted to add both the colours and the textures that make the cake stand out. Piping was then applied and painted in 24kt gold, to add ornate detail as a special finishing touch.

  • The Venetian Gala Series

This series of ten cakes were created for CIBC for a Venetian themed charity gala in 2008. Each centerpiece cake boasted a mask entirely of sugar on which all of the details were hand painted, hand sculpted or hand piped from sugar. At the end of the evening a guest at each table got to take the mask home.

  • Peonies and Pnina

The bride's dress often serves as the starting point for a custom cake design. In this case the pleating and embroidery on the bride's Pnina Tornai couture dress acted as inspiration for the 5 tiers, while handmade sugar peony's, lilacs, and roses, completed the look on this stunning cake.

  • Aero Bar Cake

The Areo chocolate bar was a favourite as the painting was particularly fun to work on.

  • Three Tiers of Pretty

Yes, I am only 5' 2", but still it is a really big cake! I like that this cake is a play on a traditional 3 tier cake, in that it is so large but still only 3 tiers. The sugar ribbons, gardenias and intricate piping, soften the sharp lines of the cake and give it a surprisingly delicate appearance.

  • The Dogwood Cake

The use of different height tiers, different shaped tiers and different coloured risers, gives this cake a lot of visual interest. The the dogwood flowers and soft colour palette are relatively simple and yet this cake has a sense of drama without being overly fussy. The addition of fifteen 2 tier replica mini cakes complete the look and were later given as gifts to the wedding party.

  • Doctors Bag Cake

This traditional doctor`s bag was sculpted out of cake and given at a party for graduating medical school. The doctor`s accoutrements including scissors, blood pressure cuff, and stethoscope, were all made out of sugar and coloured pink as this lucky medical student was also due to give birth to a baby girl within a few weeks.

  • Whimsical Bat Mitzvah Cake

This fun Bat Mitzvah cake was created with each tier reflecting a different interest in the client`s life, including alpine skiing, summer camping, her beloved dog and regular trips to Kernel`s. Once again all of the elements including the ``popcorn`` are made from sugar.

  • Sugar Orchids

Yup, this is sugar too! Sugar flowers are a true art form which inspire passion in those who create them. As such it seems fitting to include these handmade sugar orchids so clients can see the workmanship up close.

  • The Eglinton Grand

This special christening cake had a decidedly movie related theme as the event was held at The Eglinton Grand. The popcorn, movie reels, and film are all made out of sugar and even the photos of the baby are edible.
